Since I arrived at First Baptist Church of Augusta in April of 2017, we have been putting together a staff of capable ministers who love Jesus Christ and the Church. It is not an overstatement to say that our church will only be as healthy as the staff that works to make our church function well. I am convinced that if the pastoral team is full of energy and passion for the Gospel, then it will begin to take root in the common life of our church. It is hard to believe that over the past twenty-eight months we have brought on the following members of the FBC staff.
Dr. Will Dyer, Senior Pastor
Rev. Dan Gaudiner, Minister of Contemporary Worship and Worship Technology
Rev. Melissa Willis, Minister to Pre-School and Children
Rev. David Hughes, Minister to Students
Rebecca Hughes, Children’s Choir Coordinator
Angela McNeal, Director of Weekday Education
Lauren Salsman, Technical Director
In this edition of the Interpreter, you have the pleasure of getting to know more about the candidate who will hopefully become our next Minister of Music. The Reverend Ryan Heritage is an accomplished musician and just as importantly, a devoted follower of Jesus Christ. When I met Ryan for the first time, I knew that he would be a great addition to the team we have put together at the First Baptist Church. Ryan has more than a decade of experience leading worship in a variety of settings, always done with excellence and continually pointing people to Jesus. He is a dynamic worship leader who will help us to achieve our vision of connecting people to Jesus Christ and a community of faith. In the pages that follow, you can read about his family and his ministry experience.
I want to take this opportunity to thank the entire Music Minister Search Committee. They have worked with diligence and passion to find the right person for this time in our history. When you see them, please take the time to tell them “Thank You”. In particular, I want to express my gratitude for Joe Hardy, who served as Chair of this outstanding group.
Please make plans to be in worship with us this Sunday, July 28, as Ryan and his family will be with us at both the 8:30 and 11:00 services. After the 11:00 service, you will have the opportunity to greet Ryan and his family at our Sunday lunch. Finally, at 6:00 that evening we will have a special Church Conference where we will vote to call the Reverend Ryan Heritage as our new Minister of Music. I am asking that you make every effort to be present in worship and at conference.
It is an exciting time to be at First Baptist Church. I can’t wait to see you on Sunday,
