Dear Church,

In the course of a normal church year, the summer is a time where we can take a moment and catch our breath as we prepare for our Fall Programming to kick off. In the usual rhythms of July, ministers can enjoy a few weeks of slower pace and relaxation. But this, my friends, has not been a typical church year. We have been hard at work preparing for the Fall and the many changes that you will see on campus and in worship. I would like to update you on just a few of the changes we have been working on this summer.

Last week, you heard from Melissa about the upgrades and changes that have been made in the Children’s Building. When we made the decision to launch children’s worship in August, we knew that it would be necessary to have a top-quality venue where children can go to experience the love and grace of Jesus during the worship hours on Sunday. I can’t begin to tell you how pleased I am with the progress that has been made so far. Make sure to tell Melissa “Thank you” for all her hard work.

I am also excited to let you know that we are making great progress on our Live Stream for the 8:30 service. We are in the process of fine tuning the
video so when you tune in online you will have a phenomenal experience. Dan Gaudiner has put in countless hours making sure that everything was done with excellence as we prepare to launch. Without Dan and his work, there is no way that we would be this far along in the process. We will begin showing the 8:30 worship service through our website on August 11!

Finally, I want you to know that the Music Search Committee has
unanimously voted to present a candidate to become our next Minister of Music. Because of the sensitive nature of our call system, we will wait until next week to share more information about the candidate and his family. However, you need to know that they will be in worship with us on Sunday July 28, in both the 8:30 and 11:00 services, then at 6:00 that evening there will be a special called Church Conference where we will vote to affirm the decision of the committee. I am thrilled with the candidate and believe that he will greatly enhance the worship experience in our Traditional Service. I am incredibly excited for you to meet him and his family.

As you can see, it has not been a slow summer at FBC. Great things are happening and even greater things are on the horizon. I am so excited to be here in this moment.

I hope to see you this Sunday in worship,

Will
