“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” 1 Peter 4:10
The Sanctuary Choir is a non-auditioned blend of singers of all levels who lead each Sunday morning in our Traditional Worship. Ensembles and soloists rise from the choir providing emphasis to a select piece of music or occasion. The Sanctuary Choir annually presents a Christmas program and Spring Concert. Sanctuary Choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings at 7:00PM in the Choir Suite.
The First Baptist Church Orchestra is open to instrumentalists of high school age through adult and rehearses on Wednesday Evenings at 7:00 pm in the Sanctuary. This group plays for worship, occasionally accompanies the Sanctuary Choir, and plays for special music events.
The music in our contemporary worship service (REACH) is led by our praise band. The band utilizes a variety of modern instruments including acoustic and electric guitars, electric bass, keyboard and synthesizer, and acoustic drum kit. Our offering of songs includes modern versions of familiar hymns as well as contemporary worship songs that express our personal and collective worship of our God, acknowledging God’s majesty, grace, mercy and love. Ranging from softer ballads of lament to more vibrant and powerful anthems of praise, multi-generational, congregational participation is greatly encouraged and the songs and the vocal keys are chosen with that intent. Our music and singing are always for the purpose of bringing honor and glory to God.
If you have a heart for leading worship through music and you have been gifted with instrumental and/or vocal skill, we want to offer you the opportunity to share your gifts. Our instrumentalists typically use modern, amplified instruments and our vocalists sing in a more modern, contemporary style. Please contact Kurt Wachtel, Minister of Music, if you would like to discuss how you can be a part of our REACH music ministry. First Baptist wants to encourage everyone to find a place of service.

Preschool & Children’s Music Ministry
Preschool and Children’s Choirs
Children’s Choirs meet on Wednesday evenings throughout the academic year. Our overriding goal is that choir will be a time and a place where boys and girls can experience God through music. Singing is our main activity but other musical activities include playing instruments, moving to music, creating music, reading music, developing listening skills and learning how to share our music with others. Each activity is intentionally and carefully immersed in spiritual concepts appropriate for each age group. The songs we teach are chosen carefully, knowing that a great amount of the doctrine that our children will learn can be derived from these texts.
