The Sanctuary Choir
“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” 1 Peter 4:10
The Sanctuary Choir is a non-auditioned group of singers who lead in worship each Sunday morning in our Traditional Service. Each week this talented, dedicated ensemble of individuals, unite their voices to glorify God and proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Choir annually presents a Christmas Concert, “Christmas at First Baptist” which has become a signature event offered to the community benefiting local charities. The choir also offers a variety of special worship and themed program events throughout the year. This group is led by the Minister of Music, Kurt Wachtel, and rehearses Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. in the Choir Suite, Daniel Building, 3rd Floor.
The First Baptist Church Orchestra is an auditioned instrumental ensemble open to players of high school age and adults. The orchestra performs regularly in worship, occasionally accompanies the Sanctuary Choir, and presents a variety of music for special events. This group is led by Kurt Wachtel and rehearses Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary.
Adult Praise Band
The Adult Praise Band leads worship in our contemporary worship service. The offering of songs includes modern versions of familiar hymns as well as contemporary worship songs; songs that express our personal and collective love of our God, acknowledging God’s majesty, grace, mercy and love ranging from softer ballads of lament and confession to more vibrant and powerful anthems of praise and worship. Multi-generational, congregational participation is greatly encouraged – songs and the vocal keys are chosen with that intent. The music and songs are chosen for the purpose of bringing honor and glory to God. This band is led by Dan Gaudinier and rehearses Wednesdays, 7:30 p.m. in the MAC Gym.
If you have a heart for leading worship through music and you have been gifted with instrumental and/or vocal skill, we want to offer you the opportunity to share your gifts.- please contact Worship Leader, Dan Gaudinier, for and individual audition.
In addition, there is a continuing need for volunteers not particularly musical, but blessed with a servant’s heart, to serve in a variety of roles. First Baptist wants to encourage everyone to find a place of service.
This adult handbell ensemble is a most talented group of musicians and is open to adults who can read music and have significant handbell ringing experience. This group performs for special events and in worship services throughout the year. This group is led by Kurt Wachtel and rehearses Mondays, 5:30 p.m. in the Daniel Building, Room 201.

Preschool & Children’s Music Ministry
Preschool and Children’s Choirs
Children’s Choirs meet on Wednesday evenings throughout the academic year. Our overriding goal is that choir will be a time and a place where boys and girls can experience God through music. Singing is our main activity but other musical activities include playing instruments, moving to music, creating music, reading music, developing listening skills and learning how to share our music with others. Each activity is intentionally and carefully immersed in spiritual concepts appropriate for each age group. The songs we teach are chosen carefully, knowing that a great amount of the doctrine that our children will learn can be derived from these texts.
Choir Rehearsal Schedules:
Children ages 3 – 5 meet Wednesdays, 6:00 p.m. in the Preschool Building
1st and 2nd Grades meet Wednesdays, 6:00 p.m. in the Children’s Building
3rd – 5th Grades meet Wednesdays, 6:00 p.m. in the Choir Suite, Daniel Building, 3rd Floor
