Over the past many months, your Search Committee has been diligently reviewing resumes submitted from all parts of the U.S. and beyond to determine God’s choice for the right person to serve as our Minister of Music.  The committee’s prayerful work has been fruitful, and has led us to a unanimous recommendation.
It is our distinct pleasure to introduce to you Ryan Heritage and his wife, Lindsey.  It was while Ryan was serving at Wilshire Baptist Church in Dallas as a Music Ministry Resident that he and Lindsey met.  Married for over ten years, they have three daughters– Bella (9), Randi (6), and Piper (3).  With a Bachelor’s degree in Education and  Master’s degree in Administration, Lindsey is a Reading Specialist for the Collierville school district in Tennessee.
Born in Anderson, SC , Ryan was active in his home church throughout his formative years.  A product of local schools, Ryan completed his studies for a Bachelor’s degree in Church Music at Erskine College.  While there, he served a semester-long internship at First Baptist Church, Greenville, SC under the tutelage of our own former Minister of Music, Glen Adkins.
Ryan continued his education at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, where in 2007, he earned his Master’s of Music in Church Music.  He is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Worship Studies from the Institute for Worship Studies in Jacksonville, Florida.  With two semesters remaining in this course of study, he anticipates graduation in 2021. Having over twelve years’ experience in Music Ministry, Ryan comes to us from Trinity Baptist Church in Cordova, TN where he has served as Minister of Music and Worship for the past five years. In addition to his chosen vocation, Ryan enjoys carpentry, hunting, fishing, water sports, and other outdoor activities.

Thank you for your prayers and constant support throughout this search process.   The Committee’s hope and prayer is that you, too, will be as excited as we are about the future of our Music Ministry.

Joseph K. Hardy, Chairman
Minister of Music Search Committee

What others are saying….

“The search committee’s prayer has been that God would lead us to the person who should be our Minister of Music. Obviously, Ryan Heritage fulfills the musical abilities required; however, these two priorities he expressed were equally important: his passion for those who do not know the Lord, and his desire to give pastoral care to the choir and other church members. This is why l truly believe Ryan Heritage is God’s answer to the committee’s prayer.” – Neal Laxton, Search Committee Member, Sanctuary Choir President

“What most impressed me about Ryan was his authenticity! He is so very genuine in his  communication and has an excellent sense of humor. He will be a significant asset to an already amazing staff of ministers, and our church will benefit from the contribution of his training and many gifts!” – Rhoda Sword, Search Committee Member

“I am so glad to hear that First Baptist Augusta is considering Ryan Heritage as your next Minister of Music.  When I was Minister of Music at FBC Greenville, Ryan served as music intern for a semester while he was a college student.  I remember well his beautiful singing voice and his strong desire to learn how to serve God through the music ministry of the local church.  Ryan is fortunate to have the opportunity to minister at such a great church, and FBC Augusta is fortunate to have Ryan at the helm of the music ministry.” – Glenn Atkins, Former FBC Minister of Music
