Biloxi/Katrina Mission trip

“One More Time” before 2009! Biloxi/Katrina Mission trip November 13 - 16, 2008. Jeff Badke is the trip leader and Bob Martin will assist. Join us “One More Time” in the Biloxi area to help those still in need. Deadline for sign up is November 2. Trip cost is $50. A trip to help those on the Texas Gulf Coast will be investigated for 2009.

Adult Reading and Writing (ARW) Workshop

Training for church or associational outreach ministry to teach English-speaking adults reading and writing while demonstrating and sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with the students. Monday, Tuesday & Thursday, October 6,7 & 9, 9 AM - 2 PM in Walton 105. $25 includes the workshop manuel and daily snacks. You must attend all 14 hours of instruction for North American Mission Board certification. Call Nancy Brant (736-2779) for information or to register by September 29.

Ladies at First “Conversation Peace: The Power of Transformed Speech” Wednesdays 5:30 PM A-200 OR 9:30 AM Admin Building, 2nd floor. Ladies, would you like to revolutionize your speech habits and improve your relationships? Join us for this 7-week video based study that will introduce you to speech transforming elements of communication. Have you ever stuck your foot in your mount, been at a loss for words, or been talked into something you didn’t want to do? If you suspect your speech patterns are hindering your relationship, then this study is for you! Christmas Fund Raiser

This Sunday, September 21, students will begin their Christmas Fund Raiser. They will be selling Christmas wreaths, garland, and centerpieces made from fresh evergreen trees. Folders and order forms will be available in Sunday School and during Sunday Lunch. Payment is due at the time you place your order. Checks should be made payable to First Baptist Church. Items will be available for pickup on Sunday, December 7 following the Combined Worship Service. The proceeds from these sales will be given to students to help with the cost of camps, mission trips, and other youth activities.

Christmas Celebrations 2008

* Sunday, December 7 Combined Worship 10:45 AM: Hanging of the Greens, a colorful service decorating the Sanctuary!

* Saturday, December 13 7 PM and Sunday, December 14, 6:30 PM “A Festival of Carols” in the Sanctuary. A service of music featuring the Sanctuary Choir, Orchestra, Combined Youth Choirs, and the Columbia County Ballet.

* Sunday, December 21, 6:30 PM, “The Greatest Christmas Pageant” featuring the FBC Children’s Choirs and Chimes.

* Wednesday, December 24 Christmas Eve Services in the Sanctuary: A Family Gathering @ 3PM for families with childrenl “A Night in Bethlehem” will allow families to experience the wonder of the night of our Savior’s birth. Candlelight Communion Service @ 5PM featuring Lessons and Carols with music from combined Adult & High School ensembles, string ensemble, hapr, piano, and organ.
